I am amazed at how far skin in Second Life has come. The default skin newbies enter Second Life with these days is much better than what we paid good money for back in ’07. I coughed up a huge amount to have decent skin back in the day, saving up and spending no less than 1500 lindens. That was tons to me back then, and still nothing to sneeze at. It’s kind of weird to see skin that puts what I used to wear to shame on sale for just a few lindens.
I admit it, I’ve not been skin shopping too much recently. When I invested in my first skin it seemed I tried every store in Second Life, and hated most everything. Even with skin being so much better now, it’s rare I find something to suit me.
I found a nice looking skin at a store called Plastic Flowers. The price shocked me . . it was just ten lindens. I found one to actually suit me, and it looks considerably different on me than it does on the model in this picture. You wouldn’t even guess I was using the same skin, and it’s more like the real life me than the previous skin I had.
If you’d like to see the skin at Plastic Flowers you need to put forth some effort. The landing point is completely in another building, so you have to fly to the beacon. Once you get to the Plastic Flowers building you then go upstairs. A bit of extra clicking and flying, but hey, this skin is good and it’s just ten lindens so worth a look.

Skin hoor that I am, I will definitely check this out and let you know via IM what I think.
[Added 09-23-2010] I did check out the skins and was very impressed…skin texture, naughty bits, and eyes were very well done–worth much more than a meager 10 Lindens. This definitely goes on my Advice to Newbies notecard as the number one place for skins with the many places I know free skins can be sought. I’ll still wear my Exodi and A&E skins because I get so many extras, but these skins are very very good.
