Cutea Benelli Update

For those new to SLFix, I’ll fill you in: Cutea Benelli is one of my favorite creators in Second Life. She does everything from scary Halloween decor to grunge furniture and post apocalyptic clothes. Her items are twisted, creative, morbid, unexpected and ofttimes giggle-inducing. If you visit Low Prim & Grim you get to walk around monsters, ghosts, blood, mad scientist equipment and eyeballs that follow you; all the while the music streams in 1920s and ragtime, making you feel like you’re in some wacky madhouse. It’s crazy but awesome, and after two years of being in Second Life and a big Cutea fan I still return to her stores on a regular basis.

Cutea is not just about the twisted items, though this is what she seems to do best. She also has a store the more mainstream crowd are not too afraid to visit, called Low Prim & Pretty. It’s one of the first places in SL I found beautiful furniture that was not high in prim or price.

Yesterday I got a notice from the Low Prim & Pretty group with some bad news from Cutea:

Due to unpleasant circumstances beyond our control, our shop Low Prim & Pretty, which unfortunately was located on rental land, has been returned. those of you who hav seen how big it was will understand that buying the land will cost a lot of money and rebuilding will cost a lot of time. we are still in shock and considering our options . . .

I IM’d Cutea, and apparently several others did as well, encouraging her. Later on we got a better message from the Low Prim & Pretty group.

dear pretty people,

no news for months – and then two notices in one day – sorry bout that! i would like to thank you for the overwhelmingly positive and encourageing feedback we received after telling you about our misfortune. this pushed us to rebuild a (much) smaller version of low prim & pretty fast – with some new things and some of our most popular items. the attached lm takes you to the entrance of our sort-of-soon-finished new lil shop. thank you again, much love and stay pretty.

I asked Cutea if there was anything she wanted to say to SLFix readers, and she mentioned that she’s come out with some custom avatars recently. I had not seen these until now. They’re on the second level at her Grim Brothers Main store. I’ve taken a picture of three of them. I was laughing when I saw them, but rather than describe I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
