Mynerva Skin

Ok, you will rarely see me write about skin unless I’m poking fun at some guy who still looks noobie circa 2007, but I’m going to make an exception today.

First off, while I try to get the best skin I possibly can, I’m also not a fan of changing it regularly. I’ve probably changed my skin three times in the last five years. It can define appearance even more than shape, clothes, or hair sometimes, so when you get a new one, you often look like a totally different person. Shapeshifters may like that, but I prefer to be “me” and just stick with the best I can find until it becomes out of date or something better replaces it.

Having said all that, I thought I’d give a shout out to the place that created my skin. The store is called Mynerva, and it specializes in light skin, catering to adult, teen, and children avatars. Some of you may be disappointed because you won’t find much tan or dark skin, though that’s fine for me since I’m quite pale: It is, in fact, the most suitable skin I’ve found.

Here’s a shot of the model wearing my skin. As you can see we don’t look much alike.

Me!

It’s worth noting that I’m also wearing a makeup layer, also purchased at Mynerva. The skin is pretty on its own, but I wanted a bit more eyeliner.

I checked the profile of the owner, Rhapzody Wilde. Here’s something helpful she put in her profile picks for those interested in making skin:

the wonderful thing about Sl
We are all given an equal playing ground
We can all learn to create, build, script and texture stuff.
I am not an artist. I learnt by drawing and redrawing stuff for many years. It is not a natural talent for me.
No one has to buy skins.. you can all make your own.
heres a start ( if i can do it so can you)

http://www.3d.sk/ ( this is not free unfortunately)
and then google the many free tutorials on creating skin effects
I am a huge conspiracy theory fan. Just look at the icon for SL ..( though i suspect they did it to be nerdy cool) but the net can be used for good or bad. Yes I charge for my skins. I wish I didnt have to but I exist in the same world of bills you do.
You can and should make your own skins. It doesnt matter if they are beautiful or not in the eyes of others. You will never please everyone. The point is YOU made it.

Mynerva skin cost 1000L and for me it was well worth it. Makeup packs run about 100L. You can also find skin being given away as a group gift. This is high quality stuff too. I wore a previous “group gift” skin for ages before I decided to splash out on one in a slightly different shade. (It costs 50L to join the Mynerva group, but the skin being given away is worth at least 1000L.)

I know some of you may want more detail about the skin like whether it has cleavage, etc. Yes, you have the option of that, as well as freckles, eyebrows and stuff. Describing all that and taking snaps of it is not really my thing though. I am not big into skin; I just know I’m pleased with what I got at Mynerva, and I think they deserve a mention for making me a happy customer.

Very interesting! This skinchanger/shapechanger admires your taste and respects our differences regarding skin and blogging about it! Thanks for the info, as I too like paler skins and will check Mynerva out.
