Vampires

Noticing a lot of vampires lately. One female vamp sat on a bench at Nowhere Land for a couple of days, while others have been roaming Penny Lane and eyeing up the people who are afk. I was even propositioned by one!

What do I think of vampires? I’ve seen them evolve over the years. When I was a kid I dressed up like one every Halloween due to watching loads of Son of Svenghoolie in Chicago. Then came Fright Night, and Lost Boys, one of the best vampire films ever made, not to mention “Guilty Pleasures” by Laurel K. Hamilton and good old Buffy on tv.

Spike versus Slayer

In recent years much of the fun has been taken out of vampertainment. Vamps have been changed from seductively evil to broody and misunderstood. Instead of spawn of Satan, these days the vampires have a virus. Either that or they’re sparkling heroes who are hundreds of years old but still fancy having a mushy romance with a 16 year old girl.

The vampires in Second Life are mostly no better. Many play a game which involves recruiting people and gaining levels. Sorry, this is not being a vampire, this is being an Amway salesman! They often have deep tans too, and live on sunny beaches. Beaches! Back in my day no self respecting vamp would be laying out in the sun.

I’m pretty disappointed with SL vampires. The one who propositioned me typed the word “u” instead of “you.” I think these vampires need to be paler, run from crosses, and actually spell words instead of typing like they’re on a cell phone. “Want ur blood” would be ok for Wilbur the zombie to say, but I expect more from vampires.
