Okay, this is more a reminiscence by my sister Pay Writer about Hair Fairs 2008 and 2009. While I do have some pix of Paypa’s plunder from this year’s fair to present, I don’t pretend to know fashion or be up on the trends. As with art, I know what I like. And I really liked the Twin twin-dogsDogs hairstyle being sold by LALA Moon; just clever how it gives you half a head of hair and it’s Big Hair, too. Most of the hair I did buy was the 50%-goes-to-charity offerings, which were wonderful. I believe a lot of money was raised for Locks of Life through this event. Sponsors included, I’m proud to say, MechanizedLIFE, with whom I am associated. Anyway, here’s what Sis told me:

“At last year’s Hair Fair, Dreams and I were still getting to know each other. We had a passion for the neko lifestyle, but it was this event that really got us acquainted! I know everyone complains about the lag but we still had a great time. If you go alone, it’s just you and the lag blues; but if you go with friends, the laughs carry you along. Last year, we went along with the prevailing theories about Avatar Rendering Cost and Lag, and were stripped down to near nudity and no ears or tails, nothing! This year, thanks to a general pile-on on Plurk when sister Paypa flashed a piccie of her sans even hair, we decided to go as ourselves and took our 2300+ ARCs with pride! We took along a friend of ours whose rezday makes us look like babies and she confessed it was her first time. She made up for it by insisting on visiting every damn store! LOL! In fact, it just served to remind us of the fun we have just being together and reinforced our feelings of affection. Dreams is so sociable, too, saying hello to “sisters of the collar” and helping others when she overhears the need.

“It’s not about hair, it’s about fun. Seeing all the other crazed visitors, and getting the fever . . . just one more store! Ok, one more store! Yes, alright . . . we’ll check this one out, too! This is the absolute last . . . and on into the wee hours!”

Thanks so much, Pay! (/me rolls eyes) And particularly, thanks to the organizers. I loved the CandyLand-themed store designs, the pathways, and the great designers who contributed! Can’t wait till next year!

The most significant statement in this excellent, technically detailed article boils down to this: “There is, however, one way to make things worse for everyone: Clearing your cache.

There is also a problem now with Mono compiled scripts, JIRA issue SVC-3895 (http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3895) it explains a lot of the lag that’s been around lately.
