Master builder Slate McLeod has a cool exhibition running showing example of his exceptional building craft. I am constantly astounded at the abilities of builders, as I can barely create a box, and Slate is one of the best British builders on the grid. His creations are wondrous replicas of iconic pop culture creations. Most people should be well aware of his beautiful scooter builds and his Michelangelo moment England ’65/’66 (which incidentally is next door to the exhibition) but there are probably quite a few unaware of his other pieces. I myself was amazed at just how much he had built; the command deck of the Enterprises was great and demanded a Kirkian (is Kirkian a real word, well it is now) so I plonked myself in the command chair and snapped away. Other standout creations are the majestic Thunderbirds ships, the daleks and some fabulous SHADO vehicles, basically my childhood TV on a virtual plate.
I am aware Shauna has already blogged the exhibition but she said I could too, and its worth a double even treble blog posting as there are some great exhibits on show. I suggest you check it before it vanished in the fluid ever changing realm of virtual buildings. Its well worth a tp.
